Day 19 - Lovingly
I know God has a sense of humor because I am constantly in groups and networks where there are very needy people. Like - the annoying kind of needy - like they will suck the life out of you and have no regard for it. Because I'm really good at just getting things done - they think it comes easy - but it doesn't.
There is a line. They sometimes get upset when I say no.
Even in these cases, I am constantly reminded to be kind, but firm. We have always to put kindness first, no matter what. That's what sets Christ followers apart; we don't have to be tit-for-tat. Especially to people who may seem less mature in their faith. Be gentle and firm to help them along. From Matthew 11, Jesus won't put more on you, but sometimes people (or yourself) will. Be careful, gentle, and firm.
Matt. 11:28-30:
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your son to walk and commune with us to help us understand your rhythms of grace. Help us to study Jesus as the example for us to follow. In Jesus' name, Amen.
