Day 5 - Humble
According to Webster: Humble is
2: reflecting, expressing, or offered in a spirit of deference or submission”
I used to think of “being humble” with a reference to other people. As if I should not think of myself more highly or haughty towards other people. Which this may be true, but let’s look at the context of this scripture:
2 Chronicles 7:13-16
“13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.”
I think alot of people are aware of verse 14 which was referenced alot during COVID-19 time, but verse 13 gives a reference point. God has the ability to shut up the heavens, send locusts or to plague the land. We are to be humble with our reference point to God. Everyone is humble compared to God. It is the Fear of the Lord. When you are feeling down or low or trapped by your situation - remember how big and powerful your God is. Focus on Him instead of yourself and watch Him orchestrate.
