Day 6 - God’s promises are not your promises - they are better

Have you ever been disappointed?  Are you not where you thought you should be in life?  You didn’t get called back for the interview?  The person you thought was the one - walked away?  You were let go from a role that you loved? 

It is easy to believe that God is who we think He is (whatever that may be) when we forge our own thoughts.  We have to let the scriptures mold our thoughts instead. 

Matthew 11:28-30 says:

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

In such a busy world and working 60+ hour days it is very hard to believe what God is saying in the scripture is true to you. But it is truth. God is only truth. 

Isaiah 55:8-9 says:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,    neither are your ways my ways,”declares the Lord.“As the heavens are higher than the earth,    so are my ways higher than your ways    and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

We literally have to brain wash ourselves with the Word. That closed door may be the best blessing in your life because there is a better door you never thought of. You don’t have depend on your own thoughts or expectations.  You can lean on His. 

Matthew 6:33 says,

“33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

The Kingdom of God is not the same as the glitzy idols of this world so we can’t even look with our physical eyes. We have to let the scripture mold our spiritual eyes so that we can seek first the Kingdom. Don’t let your natural disappointment drive forgetfulness on how good God has been and will continue to be. He has a mighty plan for Kingdom.
