Day 8 - Strengthen yourself with trust
There have been alot of sermons on my Youtube feed relating to trust. I don’t know maybe because I need it.
1 Samuel 30:4-7 reads:
4-6 David and his men burst out in loud wails—wept and wept until they were exhausted with weeping. David’s two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail widow of Nabal of Carmel, had been taken prisoner along with the rest. And suddenly David was in even worse trouble. There was talk among the men, bitter over the loss of their families, of stoning him.
6-7 David strengthened himself with trust in his God. He ordered Abiathar the priest, son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the Ephod so I can consult God.” Abiathar brought it to David.
David had found himself (or even gotten himself) into a troubling situation. The only way to pick himself up was to strengthen himself with trust in the Lord. Sometimes trusting in the Lord sounds nerve-racking to me, but feels restful. If I am to trust someone it is a form or surrender. For me, when I have “trusted” human beings it didn’t always end well. It is nerve-wracking for me. Needless to say why trusting in God is an area for me to greatly improve on as well.
Trusting in God means breaking a pattern that you are used to. I think that’s why it can be so difficult. But God wants us to break our pattern because He has a better one.
