God’s Promises – Day 1 - Secure Homes
When I was growing up, my family went through a period of a couple of years where we did not have a home of our own. It was a bit chaotic to say the least. At that period of my life, having a secure home almost felt like a fantasy. The fact that God would put in His word a promise of secure homes when His chosen people were also in turmoil is so comforting. It was like immediate relaxation for me that God proclaims this for His people.
“18 My people will live in peaceful dwelling places,
in secure homes,
in undisturbed places of rest.
19 Though hail flattens the forest
and the city is leveled completely,
20 how blessed you will be,
sowing your seed by every stream,
and letting your cattle and donkeys range free.” – Isaiah 32:18-20
I love this promise of God. If you read the full chapter, it is easy to see that the prophet is referring to the period of the coming Messiah. It could even be our spiritual home in which Jesus says, “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:1–3)”
If you find yourself in an insecure “place” – in a house, relationship, job situation that does not feel secure, then lean into this promise. Dig deep for yourself and let the Holy Spirit minister to what’s really promised to you.
Love you all! See you next for day 2!
