Little India

This was one of the first places I actually visited in Singapore. My "Singaporean Dad" I call him was kind enough to pick me up from my quarantine hotel when they finally let me out and took me to lunch in Little India. It worked out because on my first adventure out to fresh air, he had his daily prayer time in the mosque.

[Sidebar - I met my "Singaporean Dad" in a World-wide coaches organization that I am a part of. We have coaches in every country including Singapore! It is great to have such a great network of good people who are all practicing how to be our best selves!] ... ok, back to Little India...

Because of COVID restrictions, I was not allowed in because I am not of the religion, but the small glimpses I could see and the photos he showed me, it was beautiful inside. Of course, the outside is a work of art.

Below are some photos of the Marina Bay area at night. I met up with some of the coaches in Singapore for dinner and then we went for a short walk near Marina Bay. The city is definitely different from Baltimore which is where I am from. Even at 11pm at night there were kids on bikes and roller skates and whole families walking and riding their bikes together (with masks of course). Everyone was so free playing music on their bikes, socializing, enjoying the Island air. It was a culture shock in a good way :)

Little India and Marina Bay are definitely one of the liveliest areas in Singapore at night even in the midst of a pandemic. Grateful that they opened the city a bit for the locals to enjoy some time out of their apartments.

So blessed to be surrounded by people and local families that made me feel at home rather quickly. I had lived abroad before on my own and got pretty used to it. But it is nice to be in community to have your back as well. Small gestures such as sending me text to remind me to get my booster shot in the city makes a world of difference to have local friends. Such a joy and a miracle how different people's paths cross for the better. Embrace the community around you especially the ones that add to your lives :)
